To repeat what I said elsewhere, one of the key things that I think SE is overlooking is that it important for healer classes to have something both fun and productive to do with their gcd when nothing needs healing. Healing downtime is inevitable , especially given FFXIV spiky but predictable incoming damage and more efficient healers will have even more downtime, which is currently only rewarded with more filler spam. I think a significant portion of each healer toolkit could and should be dedicated to filling this need, and I think that why pre 4.0 SCH dot heavy playstyle made the job so fun: not only was it an engaging way to spend gcd but it also synergized well with its healing kit..
